Miller Time In Milwaukee, Brewers Rally Past Reds 3-2

The type of game that Bronson Arroyo had out on the mound on Monday night would depend on your point of view. While his numbers were not that bad overall, the long-ball would turn out to haunt him at Miller Park.

Arroyo gave up a pair of home runs – including a game-winning homer to pinch-hitter Jim Edmonds – would prove to be the difference as Milwaukee came from behind and edged Cincinnati 3-2.

The Reds took the early lead at 2-0 in the second inning when Ryan Hanigan blooped a single to left, scoring Scott Rolen and Jonny Gomes; Rickie Weeks would go yard in the third, tying the game at 2.

Both Arroyo and Brewers starter Randy Wolf would continue to throw zeroes on the board until the eighth when Edmonds came up to the plate. Edmonds hit a loud foul, then would proceed to line a shot to deep right-center, putting the Brewers ahead for good.

While Arroyo went eight innings and gave up just three hits, two of them cleared the fences; he also walked one while striking out five in taking the loss. Meanwhile, Gomes had three of the Reds’ six hits while Hanigan drove home a pair of runners.

Cincinnati and Milwaukee play again on Tuesday when Yovani Gallardo (9-4, 2.45 ERA) gets the start for the Brewers while the Reds bring out Edinson Volquez (1-1, 7.56 ERA).
